A Journey to Fort Mason and the Marina

On a beautiful sunny day in San Francisco you could  find yourself as I did falling in love with Fort Mason and the Marina District. Immediately after a an amazing lunch in historic Union Square I ventured out to Fort Mason to walk my Peekapoo in the park. I wasn’t aware of the variety of things to do while there. There is a popular vegetarian restaurant there called Greens, a popular hostel and nothing but picturesque marina Green grandeur. The park was inundated with pedestrians walking their pets, people enjoying the clear day gazing across the North Bay toward Alcatraz, Angel Island, Pacifica and the majestic Golden Gate Bridge to our west. We had the local grocery store right beside us, people picnicking on the other side, sailboats, ferry’s, and the north bay privileged providing what could only be described as, sublime living. We overheard some locals giving directions to a shopping compound called the Sports basement which apparently was where all the traffic was going. A 75% off sale directly across from the Presidio and it was walking distance? Now I had another place to visit this afternoon. If you can imagine what the million dollar homes cascading down Marina Boulevard might look like, then you have a pretty good idea what our experience was. City sightseeing tour buses, bicyclers, gourmet hot dog stands, it all worked. What a gem this town is.
