The San Francisco Civic Center is an area near Market st that houses the cities largest government buildings like City Hall and the headquarters of the Supreme Court of California as well as some of the cities largest cultural centers like the Asian Art Museum, The War Memorial Opera House and the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

This is a great location to take in the sights of the Civic Center Plaza, one of the main focal points of many San Francisco festivals, events and parades such as the Word Cup Viewing, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Earth Day Celebration. If there is a celebration going on in San Francisco, this is the place to be.

There are also a number of Farmer’s Markets and similar retail markets throughout the week to get a taste of local produce and products.

City Hall holds the fifth largest dome in the world.  The building reopened in 1915 after replacing a structure ruined by the 1906 earthquake.
